Any Stephen Lynch fans in Australia? Enough for him to tour there? If so, which cities, venues, etc.? And what's the best time of year for such things? Comments please...

This is true. The best time of year is right now. March, April, May. During the Melbourne comedy festival. Come next year lol Probably need some fair publicity, and just do small venues because I don't know how dense the Lynch craziness is. I know me and about 10 friends will go

Oh, and obviously Melbourne and Sydney are the main comedy hubs. Could probably do Perth, Adelaide and Hobart aswell.
I only know of venues in Melbourne, however.

I'm working with a small intimate venue in Melbourne at the moment who are very interested in having comedy acts.
Capacity 60-100 people.

S'pose this one's on the backburner for now?? www.comedyfestival.com.au/Seriously, the way to go! Make sure he brings DVDs. I need one. You try finding them in this bloody country! --- Relevant info: I am not from Australia or New Zealand but want to be part of the Festival. What do I do?Producers and artists wishing to present overseas artists in the Festival should contact the Festival Director before commencing negotiations as different conditions apply. Email info@comedyfestival.com.au

There are lots of comedy venues in Sydney that would be very willing to have him. One would probably be The Metro which often holds such acts.
Also i know loads and loads of people who would love to see him live.

YES YES YES!!! (In fact I only joined the forum to say this!). The first Comedy Central Special was well recieved here and replays periodically and we are eagerly awaiting the second one. As others have said the Melbourne Comedy Festival is probably the best time to come esp for good press attention. It is the third biggest comedy festival worldwide after Montreal and Edinburgh Fringe. Otherwise for a general tour Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane have pretty regular comedy shows that sell well. Not sure about Adelaide and no-one really goes to Perth. We don't have huge arena comedy shows like the US but venues of a 100- 300 frequently sell out and a few other comedy central people (eg Arj Barker) have done successful tours here. There are loads of venues in Melbourne and Sydney but in Brisbane only real places are "The Powerhouse" which has the best comedy line up but it is a theatre format www.brisbanepowerhouse.org/ or The sitdown comedy club which is at a pub. www.standup.com.au/content.asp?page=venues&venue=6663Sadly Lynch name recognition is not that great just yet (that guy that does the sick songs...)so it would probably be good to do a press junket first then come back and do it all again when touring. The following comedy shows would be particularly good get on. Heaps of Aussies podcast comedy. Wil Andersen and Adam Hills both won awards at the Edinburgh fringe and could totally hook you up with the Aussie Comedy scene. I reckon Wil Anderson is probably already a fan actually. Wil Anderson www.triplem.com.au/sydney/shows/willehmo/podcasts/index.htmlAdam Hills www.abc.net.au/tv/spicksandspecks/about/default.htmRove www.rovedaily.com.au/the-show.htmHamish and Andy (top rating aussie comedy podcast) www.b105.com.au/shows/hamishandandy/Good news week ten.com.au/gnwAnd obviously the foxtel's Comedy Channel. Anyway I hope to see you on tour soon!!! PS_ Stephen should set up an official facebook fan page too. Ppl are mistakenly becoming fans of that politican of the same name and writing comments about how hilarious he is!

We're negotiating an Australian release for the El Rey DVD and that should help his touring prospects. Until then, you might want to email the folks at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and let them know that you would like for them to book him as part of the Festival. info@comedyfestival.com.auAnd if you're in New Zealand, you might want to reach out to the fine people at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival at info@comedyfestival.co.nzAnd be nice!

Thx for finally coming down under (actually come to think of it there was a distinct lack of "down under" jokes if you know what I mean.) Sydney show was awesome (except for a few dodgy crowd members)!! Loved the purple rain. Missed Teich and the lack of Ugly Baby & Kill a Kitten songs but there are just too many to choose from.
Epic win of an evening even considering I had to fly to Sydney for it. Brisbane show next time too please so more friends can see what a funny "morgan freeman" he is.
