I just saw two of his appearances (no, not live) and he did the thing about trying to whistle and screwing it up. Is this a bit, or can't he whistle for real?  Whatever it is, it's pure genius to put it into the set like that !  Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I'm a newbie! ;D |

If you mean in Superhero, I don't think he's ever succesfully whistled it. But I've only seen two of his Superhero performances where he attempts it so I could be wrong.

i think he really can't whistle but he does it anyway because it's funny to hear him screw up.

i think that he does that on purpose... im guessing that one time he screwed up whistling and every laughed so he was like good s**t good **** indeed. (ok. i won't do that anymore cuz i don't want to get kicked off. but that doesn't mean i'm ok with this whole censoring deal. it makes me uncomfortable.) but if he is screwing it up on purpose, it's not that funny cuz it'd just be played out. i need rea-s-s-urance (and could we loosen it up just a little?) that he is trying to make it work and he just can't do it, cuz i could appreciate it more that way. |

Well I have only heard one recording of the song(the aulbum version), and he was singing abotu rug free boy friend before it, and also talking about being stoned. After he messed up the whistling he said "oh, cotton mouth." So I'm guessing that his not whistling properly is a play on the drug comments. And the censoring is getting to me too, I understand some words being censored, but words like Ass just mess up other words, like class, or associate, or assign, I could go on, but I'm sure everyone's got the point. The fact that Stephen Lynch uses profanity when he sings, but it's censored here is a bit stupid, too. |

maybe you haven't been on this board long enough. But the kids brought the language "censor" (it's actually known as a filter) on themselves. Stop cussing so much and misusing your priveleges, Stephen doesn't just cuss for the hell of it, he has reasons - he's funnier than any of the stuff people have posted on this board, that's for sure - and come to think of it, there's an advisory on his albums (people who bought them would know that) and lots of kids on this board, so maybe the Stephen Lynch peeps are just covering their butts. Maybe someone threatened to sue. You guys just don't know and guess what, you probably never will.
what's the big deal. the kids couldn't behave, now they have better parameters. Rules. very basic rules. much more basic than most boards i've seen (most successful boards i should say) - this is a public board, anyone can see the posts. it's probably legal protection. quit complaining. there are people dying b/c countries are dropping bombs on them for oil and you guys are upset because there are two asteriks' between an S and T.
and please please my goodness please stop trying to find ways around the censorship. I know that kids love to test their boundaries but enough already. It's been done before. everyone knows you learned these cuss words. when you get older you'll see they are just like any other word, but with the power to get adults who condone them in lots of trouble.

With the way that some people have been acting (myself included) I see more rules being implemented in the future, but I am all for it. |

No but it's not because he tried to whistle once during the Talk To Me song as well (right before "you told me at 17 it was creepy) and same thing, he screwed it up. And the two times I heard it he messed up whistling in the same place in Super hero (drug free). It is obvious that he intentionally puts in the whistling at certain spots of specific songs. Why question is if he's faking screwing up or he can't really whistle? |
